DECKING
DECKING
Decking
Hardwood Decking is a very popular alternative to paving and is an excellent hard surface for your garden.
Many of my customers leave the natural golden boards to go grey to blend extremely well with the surrounding planting.
Yellow Balau – Bangkirai – is a very durable, strong heavy hardwood, well suited to deck construction. It is one of the most popular species in the UK for hardwood decking.
Unlike softwoods the surface does not rot, gather excessive algae or require any maintenance aside from a soft brush clean once a season.
STRUCTURES
STRUCTURES
Structures
Whether it is raised beds, pergolas, balustrade, railings, bespoke steps, window boxes, statuary and water features, or just parts of the garden that need careful retaining it is critical to ensure all are solidly constructed and all electrical installations are managed by an NICEIC contractor.
PAVING
PAVING
Paving
The right choice of paving slabs and stones can rejuvenate even the most tired-looking garden from somewhere to soak up the sun in the summer to a selling point that could add significant value to your home.
Porcelain Paving
Porcelain paving is virtually maintenance free and is far easier to clean than natural stone. Popular because of its non-porous finish, it has a high resistance to stains, dirt and algae, is scratch resistant and gives a contemporary appearance to many garden designs. Inevitably porcelain is more expensive than Indian sandstone with prices from £25+vat m2 to £60+vat m2
Natural Stone Paving
While natural stone absorbs more water than porcelain and is therefore more prone to natural wear and frost damage, Indian sandstone reduces water absorbency and the effects of weathering. With each stone individually cut it provides a more rustic finish and is a cheaper alternative to porcelain with prices ranging from £16+vat m2 to £30+ vat m2.
FENCING
FENCING
Fencing
There are lots of disputes over boundaries and their heights and so, if you can, always speak to the neighbour first if you are going to alter a boundary. Communication is the key.
If you want your fencing to last, we strongly advise using well made, properly treated panels which have a manufacturers guarantee.
The traditional remedy of brushing or dipping in preservative, only treats the surface. The treatment we recommend penetrates really deep through the outer sap wood and into the heart wood where it forms an insoluble compound giving permanent protection against rot and insect attack above and below ground.
SHEDS
SHEDS
Shed & Hut Bases
So many sheds suffer because of poor foundations. It’s important to create a solid base for your large investment.
RETAINING WALLS
RETAINING WALLS
Retaining Walls
We often find gardens that need various slopes “taming” due to steep gradients or soil erosion. A retaining wall provides shape, line and texture to your garden.
